Ceramic Glazes & Colours
We are manufacturers of all kinds of raw materials required by the ceramic industry. Our products and services include: • ENAMEL FRITS for ceramics coatings on sheet steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and jewelry metals. These are used in manufacture of cook and serve utensils, eating and drinking utensils, kitchen appliances, decorative work on copper, silver and gold, outdoor signboards on steel or aluminum bases, and protective coatings on water tanks, grain silos, jet engine exhausts, coal chutes and thread guides for textile machinery. • GLAZE FRITS opaque white and transoarent glaze frits for glazing bone china, terra-cotta, hotel china, earthenware, sanitary ware, wall and floor tiles, etc. Also Low Temperature Frits for Glass Decoration. • CERAMIC OVERGLAZE FLUXES AND COLOURS: for 3rd firing (decoration) of white-ware. Also used for manufacture if ceramic decals (transfer paper.). • CERAMIC STAINS Spinel and zircon pigments, including inclusion pigments, stable upto 14000C. for coloring of glass enamels, enamel frits and glaze frits. We also manufacture cadmium-selenium reds and oranges, stable up to 800 0C. for colouring enamelware and for overglaze colours. • BONDING FRITS for binding of abrasive powders to make grinding wheels (including alumina and diamond grinding wheels) and sticks. • MICRONUTRIENT GLASS FERTILISERS (FRITTED TRACES) which contain trace elements (micronutrients) which are released slowly into the soil from the glass, so that plants can receive the right amount of micronutrient without wastage or washing away by rains. • HIGH TEMPERATURE STABLE INORGANIC PIGMENTS which can be used in ceramics as ceramic stains, but also to color automobile paints, Bakelite, blow molded plastics, chimney paints, epoxy resins, outdoor paints, stoving enamels, and other uses where resistance to heat or light fastness or resistance to moulds is important. • ENAMELLED STEEL AND ALUMINIUM BOARDS: White boards, black boards, green boards, danger boards, advertising sign boards, shop signs, street signs and street umbers. • CONSULTANCY SERVICES: For Plant Start Ups, and for process improvements.
Enamel Frits
Enamel Frits are glassy ceramic compositions quenched in cold water. Frits are then ground in ball mills, with water and other additions, to make a paint-like paste, known as a 'slip.' The slip can be applied to glass, to make a decorative design or pattern.
For application of enamels to mild steel or cast iron, a ground or primer coat enamel is required to bond physically and chemically to the metal, over which a cover coat enamel, which may be white, transparent or coloured, is applied. The different coats ate baked separately, to form, first, a ground coat, which is usually black or dark blue, at around 850-890 deg. C. and then a cover coat white, which is fired at around 800 to 830 deg. C. A coloured cover coat may be applied to the white at 790 to 810 deg. C.
Enamel frits(slips) are applied to aluminium at a temperature of 550 to 590 deg. C. A ground coat is not obligatory.
Enamels on copper are applied at around 800-840 deg. C. No ground coat is required
Glaze Frits
Frits are quenched molten glass-ceramics. They can be used for glazing terra cotta (850-950 deg. C.) Earthenware (950-1050 deg. C), bone china (1050 -1150 deg. C). Stoneware (1150-1250 deg. C) and porcelain can use unfired (un fritted) mixtures of chemicals, for glazing, but usually contain a high percentage of powdered frit (glaze) along with quartz, feldspar, lime, soda, etc.
We supply glazes in either frit form, or as powdered glaze. Our products include:
BOF - A lead free (boron based) substitute for lead bi silicate. It can also be applied directly as a terra cotta glaze.
MLG-02 A transparent glaze, fusing at 950 deg. C. Its range can be increased to 1050 Deg. C. buy the addition of 10% quartz. The opaque version is MLG-07.
BC-2 fusing at 1059-1150 deg. C. The opaque version is BC-7
TLO-11 a raw glaze fusing at 1200 deg. C. It can be mixed with MLG-02 to make stoneware glazes.
